The Bali Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya Bali) is Indonesia's largest botanical garden — a 157-hectare mountain reserve on Tapak Hill in the cool Bedugul highlands, established in 1959 and home to over 2,000 plant species. Set at 1,250–1,450 m and managed by Indonesia's national research institute, it specialises in the plants of eastern Indonesia's mountains, with a famous orchid collection, a treetop canopy walkway and themed gardens for bamboo, begonias, rhododendrons and medicinal herbs.

Open daily 8am to 6pm. Entry is around IDR 40,000 for foreign visitors and IDR 20,000 for domestic visitors.
When is the best time to visit?
Arrive 8–10am for the coolest, clearest conditions. Allow 3–4 hours to explore the huge grounds.
How do I get there?
It's at Candikuning, about 1–1.5 hours from Ubud, and pairs well with the Ulun Danu Bratan lake temple and Handara Gate nearby.
