Tirta Gangga ('Water of the Ganges') is a one-hectare royal water palace built in 1948 by the last Raja of Karangasem. With its iconic stepping-stone fish ponds, fountains, koi pools and lush gardens fed by sacred springs, it's one of East Bali's most peaceful and photogenic stops — and the perfect pair with the nearby Lempuyang Temple. Rebuilt after the 1963 eruption of Mount Agung, its spring water still feeds the surrounding villages.

What does it cost and when is it open?
Open daily 7am to 7pm. Entry is IDR 50,000 for adults and IDR 30,000 for children, with swimming an extra IDR 30,000.
When is the best time to visit?
Come between 8 and 10am for soft light, koi feeding and a cool dip before the heat. Fish-food packets are sold at the entrance for around IDR 5,000.
What can I combine it with?
Pair it with the famous Lempuyang Temple 'Gates of Heaven', about 25 minutes away, in the same morning. Modest dress is appreciated and sarongs are provided free.
