Indonesia's tallest statue and a 60-hectare clifftop cultural park
Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a 60-hectare cultural park on the Bukit plateau, crowned by Indonesia's tallest statue — Lord Vishnu riding the mythical Garuda, standing 121 metres tall with a 64-metre wingspan. Designed by sculptor Nyoman Nuarta and inaugurated in 2018 after 25 years of work, it's built from 4,000 tonnes of copper and brass. Below the statue, the vast Lotus Pond amphitheatre hosts daily Kecak fire dances, gamelan and Balinese ballet against panoramic southern-Bali views.

What does it cost and when is it open?
Open daily 9am to 9pm (last entry 8pm). Foreign adult entry is around IDR 270,000, domestic IDR 120,000, with children 3–10 at half price.
When is the best time to visit?
Late afternoon, from about 3:30pm, to catch the cultural shows and the sunset Kecak. Allow 2–5 hours.
How do I get there?
It's in Ungasan, about 15–20 minutes (10 km) from the airport and 30–45 minutes from Kuta.
