Pura Luhur Uluwatu

Clifftop sea temple with Kecak fire dance at sunset

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of Bali's six directional temples (Sad Kahyangan) and one of the most dramatically situated sacred sites in the world — a 10th-century sea temple perched on a 70-metre limestone cliff above the crashing Indian Ocean on the southwestern tip of the Bukit Peninsula. At sunset, the temple's silhouette against the burning sky is one of Bali's most iconic images, and the nightly Kecak fire dance performed in the clifftop amphitheatre at 6pm is unmissable.
