Nusa Penida Snorkel Tour

Four sites, manta rays and crystal-clear water off Nusa Penida

A Nusa Penida snorkel tour is one of Bali's most thrilling days in the water. A fast boat carries you across to the island's marine sites for four stops — usually Manta Point, Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay and the Wall — where you drift over coral gardens and reef fish and, at Manta Point, glide alongside gentle manta rays that show up almost year-round. Gear and a guide are included, so it's easy even for casual snorkellers.

Highlights

  • Swim with gentle 3–4 m manta rays at their cleaning stations
  • Four snorkel stops — Manta Point, Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay and the Wall
  • Crystal-clear water with a chance of mola-mola in season
  • Coral gardens and abundant reef fish
  • An easy guided day with gear and life jackets provided

Visitor FAQ

How much is it and how long is the day?

Tours start from around US$ 50 per person including the fast boat, gear, guide and usually lunch. They leave Sanur around 7:30–8:30am and return mid-to-late afternoon — a full 8–9 hour day.

When is the best time to go?

April to October, in the dry season, has the calmest seas and best visibility. The mola-mola is never guaranteed but most likely from July to October.

Any tips for the water?

Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard, and take seasickness tablets — Manta Point faces the open ocean and can be choppy.
