Aling-Aling Waterfall is north Bali's most adventurous waterfall — a powerful 35-metre twin cascade in the lush jungle gorge of Sambangan village, near Singaraja. The main fall is sacred and for viewing only, but the smaller waterfalls just upstream are home to Bali's most famous natural rock slides and cliff jumps, making this a half-day adventure rather than a quick photo stop.

About Aling-Aling Waterfall

Aling-Aling sits in the Sambangan 'Secret Garden' area on the lower slopes of Bali's central mountains, where a jungle river drops through a series of waterfalls and emerald plunge pools. The main Aling-Aling fall is a striking twin cascade — two streams plunging side by side over a mossy 35-metre cliff into a deep pool below.

The main fall itself is considered sacred, so swimming and jumping are not allowed there. Instead, the adventure happens at the four smaller falls a short walk upstream — Kroya, Kembar, Pucuk and the natural slide — where local guides lead visitors down two natural rock slides and cliff jumps of roughly 5, 10 and 15 metres into safe, deep pools.

Reaching the falls means walking down a steep set of around 167 steps and jungle paths through plantations of clove, cacao and tropical fruit. To do the slides and jumps you must take a local guide from the village entrance — it's how Sambangan keeps the activity safe and supports the community that maintains the trails.
