The trip leaves around 6:00 AM, just as the sun rises over the black-sand coast. Small outrigger boats motor a short way offshore to where the spinner dolphins gather, and captains work together to follow the pods as they surface and spin.

Sightings are common but never guaranteed — these are wild animals in the open sea. The calm, sheltered waters of the north coast make for a gentle, scenic ride even when the dolphins are shy, and the sunrise itself is worth the early start.
