About Blue Lagoon Beach
Blue Lagoon is a small, sheltered cove just a few minutes past the ferry port of Padang Bai in East Bali. Protected by headlands on both sides, its calm turquoise water and shallow fringing reef make it one of the easiest and most rewarding snorkelling spots on the island — you can wade in from the white-gold sand and reach the coral within a few metres.
The reef is alive with clownfish, parrotfish, moray eels, blue-spotted rays and, if you're lucky, turtles. Because conditions are so gentle, Blue Lagoon is also a favourite site for beginner scuba divers and Discover Scuba courses run out of Padang Bai's dive shops.
A cluster of simple warungs behind the beach rent snorkel gear and sun loungers and serve fresh seafood and cold drinks, so it's easy to spend a whole relaxed day here. Mornings are calmest and clearest; by midday small boat tour groups arrive from Sanur and Nusa Lembongan.
