Gili Meno
The smallest and quietest Gili — honeymoon-perfect, with the famous underwater statue circle 100 m off the west beach.
Best for: Honeymoons and total quiet
About Gili Meno
Gili Meno is the smallest and quietest of the three Gili Islands off Lombok — a tiny circle of white sand, turquoise water and swaying palms that has become Indonesia's classic honeymoon island. With just a scattering of low-key resorts and beach warungs and almost nothing to do but relax, it is the antidote to busy Bali.
Its shallow reefs are excellent for snorkelling, and Meno is home to a turtle sanctuary and hatchery as well as the famous underwater statues — a ring of human figures known as Nest, submerged just off the west coast, which has become one of the most photographed snorkel and free-dive sites in the region. Green turtles are regularly seen grazing off the beaches.
Like its neighbours, Gili Meno is completely car- and motorbike-free; you explore on foot or by bicycle, and can walk the whole island in about an hour past its inland salt lake. It is reached by fast boat from Bali or a short local boat from Lombok, usually via Gili Air or Trawangan.
