Atuh Beach

A picture-perfect half-moon beach framed by jagged islets — calmer than Diamond Beach next door and good for swimming at high tide.

Best for: Photogenic swim spot near Diamond Beach

About Atuh Beach

Atuh Beach is a beautiful half-moon cove on the eastern coast of Nusa Penida, tucked beneath dramatic cliffs and framed by jagged offshore islets and a natural rock arch. It sits right beside the more famous Diamond Beach but is noticeably calmer, making it the better choice of the two for actually getting in the water.

At high tide the sheltered inner bay offers some of the safest swimming on this stretch of coast, and a few simple warungs on the sand rent loungers and serve cold drinks and snacks. The rock formations offshore make it a superb spot for photos, especially in the morning light.

Above the beach, the Atuh clifftop and the nearby Thousand Islands (Raja Lima) viewpoint deliver some of the most jaw-dropping panoramas in Bali. Most travellers combine Atuh and Diamond Beach into a single half-day on Nusa Penida's east coast.
